Broncos survive brutal 6-game stretch thanks to the defense but Bo Nix is mired in a worsening slump

The Denver Broncos have been excelling in defense, winning games despite struggling on offense. The team's defense has been bailing out quarterback Bo Nix and the Broncos' anemic offense all season.

The Broncos had a franchise-record 17 quarterback hits in their 17-14 overtime win against the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday night. This is a testament to the team's strong defense, which has been led by players such as nickelback Ja'Quan McMillian.

McMillian recorded a sack on the first drive of the game and his interception in overtime set up Wil Lutz's game-winning field goal. McMillian's performance is not an isolated incident.

The Broncos have 12 players who have recorded at least one quarterback hit, tied for the most by any NFL team over the last 12 years. This is a significant achievement, especially considering the team's struggles on offense.

The Broncos' offense has been struggling to find explosive plays, with quarterback Bo Nix throwing for just 107 yards five days after managing a meager 123 against the Chargers. Nix has admitted that he is at a loss as to why the team's downfield attack has gone AWOL.

The team's struggles on offense are not solely due to Nix's performance. Right tackle Mike McGlinchey has stated that the quality of Denver's opening slate, which included the unbeaten 49ers and Chiefs, has a lot to do with how much Denver is scuffling on offense.

McGlinchey has also expressed his excitement for the team's future, stating that they have been finding ways to execute on the field despite playing against tough teams. The Broncos' defense has been a bright spot in the team's season, with players such as Ja'Quan McMillian and Nik Bonitto making big plays.

The team's defense is expected to continue to be a strength, with the return of rookie RB Jonas Coleman from injured reserve next week.
